Re:thinking Films – Regional Intercultural Film School for Young People

We are pleased to announce

the Call for Applications

for the Regional Youth Jury of DokuFest, PAFF and Pravo Ljudski

Three regional film festivals – DokuFest, International Documentary and Short Film Festival, Pancevo Film Festival and Pravo Ljudski Film Festival, this year will select the best film for young people with the help of the first regional young jury.

If you love cinema, you are between 16 and 20 years old and live in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia or Kosovo, you are now invited to take this unique opportunity to participate in three internationally recognized film festivals and be part of a youth-run film jury. The Youth Jury will be made up of a selected group of young people from B&H, Kosovo and Serbia who will watch a selection of films, deliberate, and present the Youth Jury Award, at all the three festival’s award ceremonies. To enhance the experience, initiate a learning process, and help them better understand the film production process, the Youth Jury will also participate in a film and media literacy workshops and master-classes with various film-makers and film professionals.

The competition programs for youth of each of the three festivals present current, engaged creative documentary cinema dealing with both global and local issues which are of particular interest to young people. The Youth Jury at each of the three festivals will select the best film for young people, in accordance to their aesthetic or narrative preferences.

The workshops on media literacy, which participants of the jury will follow simultaneously to the jury sessions during all three film festivals, will focus on film literacy, audiovisual expression, but also on alternative ways of expressing opinions and social engagement through the media, with a focus on video, social networks and blogging.

The project Re:thinking Films – Regional Intercultural Film School for Young People is implemented by DokuFest, International Documentary and Short Film Festival, Pancevo Film Festival and Pravo Ljudski Film Festival in partnership with the Western Balkans Fund /westernbalkansfund.org/.

PROPOSITIONS

This Call is open to all young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Kosovo, ages 16 to 20 (inclusive). The working language of the workshops and the jury discussions, is English.

All costs of participation (travel, food and accommodation in Prizren, Pancevo and Sarajevo) are covered by the organizers.

DokuFest, Prizren, 03 – 11. 08. 2018.

Pancevo Film Festival, Pancevo, 05 – 09. 09. 2018.

Pravi Ljudski Film Festival, Sarajevo, 07 – 12. 11. 2018.
