Synopsis
“Detours” is an experimental documentary filmed in Lebanon (2019–2021), around the Beirut port explosion and the 2019 mass protests. It captures turbulent history, disorientation, and moments of youth-led collective solidarity. Shot on digital and Super 8 cameras, with audio and phone recordings, the film moves between distant and mobile perspectives—ships, helicopters, everyday spaces—reflecting class, control, and uncertainty. Movement becomes a sensory experience, guiding the gaze and revealing cracks between experience and memory.
Sinopsis
“Obilaznice” je eksperimentalni dokumentarni film sniman u Libanu (2019–2021), o eksploziji u bejrutskoj luci i masovnim protestima 2019. godine. Bilježi turbulentnu historiju, dezorijentaciju i trenutke kolektivne solidarnosti predvođene mladima. Snimano digitalnim i Super 8 kamerama, s audio i telefonskim zapisima, film se kreće između udaljenih i mobilnih perspektiva – brodova, helikoptera, svakodnevnih prostora – odražavajući klasne razlike, kontrolu i nesigurnost. Pokret postaje senzorno iskustvo koje vodi pogled i otkriva pukotine između iskustva i sjećanja.
Directors Biography
Vida Guzmić works with moving and still images, text, and sound, shaping narratives inspired by the everyday, ritual, and gendered experience. She holds an MA in New Media from the Academy of Fine Arts, Zagreb, and has studied and participated in residencies in Beirut, Rotterdam, Vienna, and Paris. Exhibiting independently and collaboratively since 2009, she also leads audiovisual workshops for young people. She is currently producing her new film “Ukaziváčice”, shot across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, and France. She lives and works in Zagreb.
Biografija reditelja
Vida Guzmić radi s pokretnim i statičnim slikama, tekstom i zvukom, oblikujući narative inspirisane svakodnevnim životom, ritualima i rodnim iskustvima. Diplomirala je MA iz novih medija na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu, a studirala je i boravila na rezidencijama u Bejrutu, Rotterdamu, Beču i Parizu. Samostalno i u saradničkim projektima izlaže od 2009., te vodi audiovizualne radionice za mlade. Trenutno proizvodi novi film “Ukaziváčice”, sniman u Bosni i Hercegovini, Austriji i Francuskoj. Živi i radi u Zagrebu.
