Synopsis
Despite its absence, this video focuses on the image of the sky above Beirut. Between the freezing effect of warplanes crossing the sky and the sensation of being present among flying pigeons, the video attempts to represent the missing image of the sky, occupied by Israeli planes, through the gestures of the pigeon fancier.

Unatoč svojoj odsutnosti, ovaj video se fokusira na prizor neba iznad Beiruta. Između zaleđujućeg efekta zvuka ratnih aviona koji prolaze nebom i osjećaja prisutnosti među letećim golubovima, video pokušava predstaviti odsutnu sliku neba, okupiranu izraelskim avionima, kroz geste uzgajivača golubova.
Directors Biography
Maissa Maatouk (1992, Beirut) is an artist living and working in Beirut. She holds a BA (2014) and MA (2017) in product and global design from Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA), Beirut. Her recent projects explore perception amid Lebanon’s ongoing collapse. She was a fellow at Ashkal Alwan’s Home Workspace Program, Beirut (2019–2020), and a resident at Junge Akademie, Germany (2022), Saradar Foundation, Lebanon (2023), and Akademie Schloss Solitude, Germany (2023). Her work has been shown in Lebanon, USA, Germany, Austria, and France. Her latest video, “Floating Lights,” was part of the exhibition “Foreshadows,” at Beirut Art Center (2024).
