Synopsis
In 2014, Lawrence Abu Hamdan was asked to analyze audio recordings of the shootings of Nadeem Nawara and Mohamed Abu Daher in the West Bank. His work reflects on this process by amplifying the silence around these victims’ voices. The video presents a fictional trial of the murder case, based on a 2014 incident where two unarmed teenagers were killed by Israeli soldiers. Despite the case never reaching a civil court, detailed audio analysis proved the soldiers’ guilt. The work transforms the viewer into a juror, emphasizing the silence and suppression of evidence.

Lawrence Abu Hamdan is an independent investigator or Private Ear. His investigations focus on sound and linguistics and have been used as evidence at the UK Asylum and Immigration Tribunal and as advocacy for organisations such as Amnesty International and Defence for Children International together with fellow researchers from Forensic Architecture.
