The 16th PLJFF will be held in a hybrid format, from December 1st to 6th at cinema Meeting Point and then from December 7th to 17th online, on our web platform. This year’s program focuses on political and artistic acts that call into question patriarchal and colonial conventions and opens up new and interdependent C.
At the end of 2021, “normality” is back, in a way that makes the use of time for profit the prime evidence of it. Not the desired outcome of possible global covid-immunity, right? Nevertheless, for many people it only means we are back to battle to defend life, against extractivism, colonialism, capitalism. It is true that many come back more fragile in material senses, but there’s also a deeper conversation. Creative documentary, experimental cinema and radical politics have not forgotten that we are capable of being together in this immense vulnerability, In this very sense, we are listening to different sounds, intuiting different horizons, even when we don’t know exactly where they are. And this is informing new questions and ways of exploring and creating new images: is this shared vulnerability what is making us powerful in a new way, beyond the illusory safeties of patriarchy? – says the program selector, Adrianna Quena.
The festival will screen 50 films divided into seven programs through four thematic units. Details of the program will be announced in the coming days.
Welcome to 16th PLJFF!
